The Smartphone is communicating with the Exchange server via the gateway which processes the Exchange ActiveSync communication supported by an internal protected server running in a Windows Server.

PointSharp Secure ActiveSync Gateway is built with a layered security that processes the ActiveSync protocol and ensures the highest level of security performance.

All sessions are validated in the perimeter guaranteeing that no unauthorized sessions reach the Exchange Server or the Active Directory.

 

Secure ActiveSync Gateway - Authentication layer

Authentication layer

The user is identified, the device is identified and the partnership between the user and their registered devices are confirmed. Authentication proxy. Denial of Service and Brute-force protection.

 

DeviceID. Unique identity of the device is authenticated.

 

PointSharp Password. Alternative password/PIN-code instead of domain password.

 

One-Time Password. Strong authentication during a defined time frame in combination with PointSharp ID.

Policy layer

Advanced policy engine that allow customized security policies using a wide range of parameter.

Enforcement layer

Ensures the security policy is executed. Content can be blocked and wiped without the need of a factory-reset where private data e.g. photos, notes etc. are lost.

PointSharp Secure ActiveSync Gateway processes all ActiveSync traffic in the gateway. All decisions is made in an internally protected server, PointSharp Core Server which runs on a Windows Server 2008 R2. This ensures enterprise performance and scalability. It's certified by Microsoft and supports all deployment scenarios that Microsoft supports.
